Drop spindling

Making Yarn without a spinning wheel has never been so much fun! We will discuss varieties of wool; its various preparations and how to buy it; while learning to spin wool roving into yarn using a drop spindle. You will use and take home your own wooden drop spindle, and we will provide several kinds of roving. Come with a sense of adventure and a sense of humor; this is a tricky skill and takes time, but well worth it!

Learn how to dye fabric and paper using fresh flowers, leaves, berries, herbs, and a hammer. Yes, really! This unique natural dye technique produces beautiful, instant results! Get clear beautiful impressions and make patterns and pictures. We will dye both fabrics and papers, as you choose. Please bring a hammer, and if there are any berries, flowers or leaves from your garden that you would like to use, please pick them and bring them along.

Arm knitting - Reiman Gardens

ring any yarn you might want to use – literally any weight or kind – and learn to make a stylish chunky cowl or scarf knitted with your arms. This project, led by Maggie Howe of Prairieland Herbs, works best with many kinds of yarn, so it is a great way to use up scraps or small skeins. If you don't have yarn, don't worry – we will also have plenty provided. Knowing how to knit is helpful, but not at all required. Preregistration with prepayment is required by Thursday, October 4.
